Wander in Nontron searching the arts and crafts signs realized in mosaic, wood, metal, enamel, glass or ceramic.
Meander through the alleys surrounded by houses with half-timbering and the paths, the suburb and the gardens and discover unprecedented points of view on the city flooded with green foliage.

The sign-symbol created by the arts and crafts professionals is inspired by this pedestrian hike in Nontron between mountain and valley punctuated with slopes and stairs.
Nontron is aptly named: Natadun, from the Gaulish language Nat (valley) and Dun (hill).

The leaflet is available in the tourist office and in the Pôle Expérimental de Nontron et du Périgord-Limousin in the castle of the city.

Wander in Nontron searching the arts and crafts signs while discovering the city and its history!

In 2018, the city of Nontron elaborated a project of roaming and promotion of the city. The wish to promote the historical heritage of the city, fortified by its 13 centuries of existence and the current important presence of arts and crafts heading towards the excellence (Pôle Expérimental des Métiers d’Art, Coutellerie Nontronnaise, Fête du couteau, Hermès, leather sector…) led this working phase to the first concrete step: the creation of a roaming path which is both historical and patrimonial. This pedestrian path proposes to tourists and the inhabitants of the city to rediscover its history.
It was decided to call upon the local arts and crafts professionals, members of the PEMA association to realize the signs of this path. They have worked on the conception and the realization of a marker for the roaming within Nontron itself through a sign-symbol for the city. The 48 pieces realized are placed on places/points of interest of the city and in the pathways and spaces of circulation.

8 workshops and just as many arts and crafts knowhow worked to realize these signs: Natacha BALUTEAU (enameller), Tony BIZIERE and Pierre LAURENT (metalworkers), Pierre CARCAUZON (stone sculptor), La Coutellerie Nontronnaise (Knife industry), Sandrine COMBES (mosaicist), Alexander HAY (cabinetmaker), Kristiane HINK (ceramist) and Marilia SCHETRITE (master glassmaker).
And also…Guillaume ADAM (metalworker – Technical services of Nontron).
