Meeting with Cécile Vignau in residence design and arts and crafts, February 16 2024 in Nontron

Within the scope of the program of residencies of research and creation in Dordogne coordinated by the Departmental Cultural Agency Dordogne-Périgord, the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts of Nontron welcomes designers in residence and sees the birth of projects in collaboration with arts and crafts professionals of the territory.
The residence « design and arts and crafts » in Nontron takes the form of a work time in common between designers and craftsmen. During the stays of the designer, they share their knowhow and experiences often in the workshops of the arts and crafts professionals. The residence is concluded by a common creation related to a theme and sometimes by the edition of new products.

A new residence starts in 2024 with the designer Cécile Vignau.
Designer textile and colourist, Cécile Vignau has graduated from the ENSCI-Les Ateliers in 2016 and the school Estienne in 2012.
She has developed while growing up between trees and mountains a singular sensitivity to the material, the drawing and the colour. Working on an aesthetic and minimal language at the service of projects, her approach is situated at the border of art and design. Between creative researches and technical study, she questions in each of her project the local fabrication, the knowhow and the origin of the resources.
She has recently developed new patterns for kurume-kasuri weaving with the Japanese craftsman Kyozo Shimogawa, imagined an installation on this textile technic during the Paris Design Week 2022, worked on the review of Bourgogne ochres in the cultural centre ARCADE Design à la campagne® and developed a research on the BasCO-Bearnese linen within the scope of a residence “Création en cours” with the Ateliers Médicis.
Her commitment for the transmission and knowhow sharing has led her to different projects of mediation with the art centres CIAP-Vassivière and Image/Imatge.
Professor at the Superior national school of art and design in Limoges since 2021, she manages a textile workshop while comanaging the project of research and creation Chromoculture, around a garden with colour plants for an ecological transformation of the workshops practices.

During this meeting, the public will be able to meet Cécile Vignau. She will present her studies, her researches, her creations and the themes foreseen for this residence: materials, surfaces, colours and ecological stakes, identity and territory.
It will be a time of exchange and we count on the inhabitants of the territory to welcome Cécile and share with her their knowledge of our region. The arts and crafts professionals are welcome for a first presentation of their knowhow.
