FAIRE DES HISTOIRES ! (MAKING STORIES)
A COLLECTIVE CREATION, A MEDIUM TO TELL STORIES, A TOOL OF AWARENESS TO ARTS AND CRAFTS.
The network of the multimedia libraries of the Périgord Nontronnais and the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts have proposed to the public to live a collective adventure which allied the discovery of arts and crafts and narrated stories.
How to mix reading and arts and crafts? How to favour the imagination and the creativity? How to create an ensemble of works-tools usable by everyone? How to involve the public in a collective adventure with creators holder of arts and crafts knowhow?
The teams of the multimedia libraries and the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts answer to these challenges proposing the creation of a support to stories, as open as possible in order to tell and imagine different sorts of tales with mainly a public of children, but not only! The idea is to develop their imaginary while inventing new tales, the support also allows to give life to existing stories.
The principle is simple: 5 craftswomen have realised 5 scenes on the themes of the vegetable, the mineral, the water, the night and the architecture. They constitute a sumptuous decoration in order to sharpen the imaginary and favour the emergence of main stories.
We have proposed to the public (children, adults, families according the workshops) to participate to this work creating figures and elements of decoration which will animate these backgrounds. 5 workshops have been proposed: textile / sewing, art enamel on copper, paper and vegetable fibres sculpture, ceramic, felt wool.
The arts and crafts creators associated: Anne Le Dorlot – creator clay, wire and paper, Isabelle Bailly – paper sculptor, Natacha Baluteau – art enameller, Céline Giry – ceramist andt Nico van de Velde – felt worker.
The realisations are now exhibited in the network of the media libraries and activated with schools but also during specific events.
