Good news! The renovation works of the Nontron castle will start this year. Our exhibition rooms will consequently be closed until 2022. We will move the shop and the administrative office in a building in the city center very soon.
We have thought and conceived a program focused on the public – especially on the students, the actions in partnership and the outdoor exhibitions while pursuing our missions and leading actions of promotion and awareness to arts and crafts jobs.
The Pole intervenes also in coordination with major projects such as the post-master design of the rural world of the Superior National School of the Decorative Arts or the program Manufacto led by the Hermès Foundation in partnership with the Bordeaux Academy.

Châteaux en fête (The castle Festival) – Providing modifications

The Dordogne Departmental Comity of Tourism organises the event “Châteaux en fête” around a selection of the 10001 castles in the Perigord region.
The Nontron castle will be closed to the public because of the works but even so, the pole associates itself to this event in network proposing a conference-meeting (in French). The Group of Historic Researches of Nontron will present the history of the castle and the fortified city.

Design graphic residence – Bureau CIME
Reception in residence in Nontron within the scope of the Dordogne Art Residences, a project led by the Departmental Cultural Agency Dordogne-Perigord.
The theme of the arts and crafts and design residence 2020/2021 is “Identity”.
In relation with the project of the castle restoration led by the Community of Communes of Nontron and with the cultural project of the Pole, the residence is directed towards the graphic design. The graphic designers are invited for a time of research and creation on a visual identity for the structure.
The graphic designers, Marie Brochier and Thibault Dumain from Bureau CIME were selected and have begun their residence.
The residence will be the subject of cultural and promotional actions, of exchange periods with the public under different forms: a workshop with arts and crafts professional, workshops with students and finally a restitution.
The Program of the “Dordogne Art Residences” is supported by the Culture Ministry/DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Departmental Counsel of Dordogne and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region; the residence in Nontron is supported by the Community of Communes and coordinated by the Experimental Pole of arts and crafts.

Rue des Métiers d’Art reunites 30 arts and crafts professionals selected with a required level by our teams who made the choice to favor the quality and the respect of the creators and the public. They propose to the public original creations in the sectors of decoration, fashion and table art.
The public will be able to discover rare jobs and creations with a high art quality.
Leather workers, ceramists, wood turners, cabinetmakers, weavers, clothes creators, glass-makers, mosaicists, enamellers, binders…
For more than 12 years, the Pole has invited the public to come and discover the actual tendencies in the rural world! A few hours away from big cities our visitors will be able to discover and acquire original and lasting objects produced locally and adapted to the modern use.

The Nontron castle will be closed because of the restoration. However, the Pole will still continue to realize its essential missions, that is to say to favor and participate to the development of arts and crafts on the territory in order to offer a cultural program of quality and a showcase for the arts and crafts professionals while pursuing the awareness to these patrimonial knowhow. The Pole will propose outdoor exhibitions in communes of the territory and beyond. - CAE design and arts and crafts (Route of Cultural and Artistic Education).
