The castle of Nontron is closed during the works of restoration, our exhibition rooms are currently closed but the program of the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts is still rich.
The Arts and crafts shop is located in the following address 5 rue Carnot in Nontron. It is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and to 2 to 6 pm.
We have thought and conceived a program focused on the public – especially scholars, the actions in partnership, the actions outside while pursuing our missions on leading actions of promotion and awareness to the arts and crafts.

In partnership with the Cinéma Louis Delluc in Nontron and Ciné Passion en Périgord.
Exhibition from March 30 to April 2. Meetings and exchanges with the craftsmen on Sunday April 2.
The movie “The French dispatch” was recorded in 2018-2019 in Angoulême. Several craftsmen have contributed to the movie realizing decoration elements and objects.
They will present models, drawings, trials, photographs which show this experience and will exchange with the public.
In the heart of the European Crafts Days, they will also demonstrate their knowhow.
With: Camille Picard, le Point Quartz, ceramist; Caroline Samuel, La Cakoquinerie, leather worker; Nathalie Legrand, Atelier Legrand, bookbinder, gilder, books restoration.

3 Exhibitions in Périgord nontronnais
+ Participation to departmental events: castle and forge of Savignac-Lédrier and castle Barrière.

Since 2020, the Tourist Departmental Committee of Dordogne (TDC) organises the event « Châteaux en Fête » which launches the touristic season in spring. For this new edition, the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts of Nontron proposes a route of exhibitions around arts and crafts. 3 castles of the Perigord-nontronnais region have answered to our offer: the castle of Puycharnaud, the castle of Connezac and the castle of Beauvais. They date from different periods, have different architectures and personalities. Three different and adapted concepts will be put in place in each castle: personal or collective exhibition, specific installations, indoor or outdoor… Related animations can also occur: sales, workshops, demonstrations…
In addition, The Pole associates with the TDC, the Guild of Arts and crafts of Dordogne and other actors of arts and crafts in Dordogne in order to accompany the owners of castles who wishes to let arts and crafts professionals intervene within the scope of Châteaux en Fête. The castle and the forge of Savignac-Lédrier will welcome a departmental exhibition.

The Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts reconnect with major thematic and collective exhibitions in summer thanks to the Domaine de Montagenet which welcomes the exhibition in its main room.
The drawing, essential connection between the action and thought, intervenes in several ways in the practice of arts and crafts professionals: in the form of sketches, preparatory drawings, support of researches and et inspiration or an additional practice on the arts and crafts creation. It supplements our look on the arts and crafts creation. We will then exhibit drawings and arts and crafts objects of creators from our association and other guests for a vast and valuable overview of arts and crafts.
Les balades métiers d’art et nature
Summer
In partnership with the Regional Nature Reserve of Périgord-Limousin
In summer, the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts of Nontron will propose again the “balades métiers d’art et nature”. Each meeting starts with a walk or the discovery of a specific place guided by an arts and crafts professional, a botanist, a narrator… and is followed by an initiation an arts and crafts knowhow.
These meetings are located on different sites of the Community of communes of the Périgord Nontronnais or on the Regional Nature Reserve of the Périgord-Limousin and allow to discover the knowhow, the creators, the natural and patrimonial resources of this territory. It is then possible to learn more about things that surround the creation of arts and crafts objects such as the origin of the raw material, the legend or the countryside which inspire the creators… The workshop, often outdoor, is supervised by an art and crafts professional. Convivial moments to spend for a day or half a day.
In family or between adults, it is about living a moment of sharing 100% local, nature and artistic!
À la découverte des savoir-faire couteliers

In partnership with the Fête du Couteau (Knife festival).
Since 2014, the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts have participated to the organisation of internships of forge and works in partnership with the Fête du Couteau. We will organise at least 3 workshops for every public in connection with the universe of cutlery manufacturing.
Rue des Métiers d’Art
13th exhibition Rue des métiers d’art in Nontron

Rue des Métiers d’Art reunites 30 arts and crafts professionals selected with a required level by a committee of selection who has chosen to favour the quality and the respect of the creators and the public. It is proposed to the public original creations in the domains of fashion, decoration, and culinary art.
The public will be able to discover rare arts and crafts jobs but also creations with high artistic quality. Leather workers, ceramists, wood turners, cabinet makers, weavers, clothes creators, glass blowers, enamellers, book binders…
For more than 13 years, the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts invites the public to come discover the current tendencies in the rural area! A few hours away from big cities, our visitors will be able to discover and acquire original, sustainable objects produced locally and adapted to the modern use.
Arts and crafts workshops
The arts and crafts professionals will propose arts and crafts workshops all along this year 2023. The program will be unveiled for each holiday.

– A new residence in Nontron within the scope of the residences of creation coordinated by the Departmental cultural Agency Dordogne-Périgord
The Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts of Nontron will welcome a new designer in residence during this year. He/she will work in collaboration with arts and crafts professionals of the territory.
– Manufacto, the knowhow factory, a program of the Hermès company Foundation.
In partnership with the Academy of Bordeaux, the high school Alcide-Dusolier, the school of Saint-Estèphe, the high school Marches de l’Occitanie in Piégut-Pluviers and the school Louis-Aragon in Piégut-Pluviers.

Dispositive managed by the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts, a partnership with the Departmental Cultural Agency of Dordogne- Périgord, the Ministry of National Education (DSDEN 24 and DAAC of the Local Education Authority of Bordeaux), the DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Experimental Pole of Arts and Crafts of Nontron.
Within the scope of this project, the classes chosen as well as the public will be able to see the exhibition « Dialogues – Design et Métiers d’Art” which will be presented during the summer 2023 in Ribérac.
This dispositive aim to be continued and developed in the future. The exhibition will be then presented permanently in the castle after its restoration.

Within the scope of this project, the classes chosen will be able to discover the arts and crafts knowhow, the work on the transformation of the material. They will meet arts and crafts professionals and their creations, they will experiment through the realisation of creations and will visit local workshops or firms.
